According to data released by the National Autonomous Testing Agency (NTA), nearly 11 lakh candidates registered for the UGC NET June 2024 exam. However, only around 9 lakh candidates appeared for the test, reflecting a slight drop in participation. The exam determines eligibility for an Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at universities and colleges across India.

The UGC NET is one of the most competitive national-level exams, and the participation statistics indicate the continued significance of the test in shaping academic careers.

The UGC NET exam was cancelled at four centres due to technical issues or flooding. The affected centres were Dr Ghanshyam Singh College of Education in Varanasi, Shankara Group of Institutions in Jaipur, Amatyas Global IT Solution in Jamnagar, and Jainee College of Engineering and Technology in Dindigul. The NTA has announced that there will be no re-evaluation or re-checking of the results, and no correspondence regarding this matter will be entertained.
